The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare stated that therapy for cardiovascular patients is either free or heavily subsidized at government hospitals across the country under the Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).

This was in answer to an unstarred question from Congress MP Amee Yajnik, who questioned if there had been a notable increase in heart attack mortality among people aged 30 to 60 in the previous three years.

According to the Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar, the ICMR study Report "India: Health of the Nations States," estimated that cardiac illnesses contributed to 28.1% of total deaths in 2016 compared to 15.2% in 1990.

Screening for prevalent NCDs is essential to service delivery in Ayushman Bharat - Health and Wellness Centres.

Cardiovascular Disease patients are treated in various health facilities throughout the health care delivery system, including District Hospitals, Medical Schools, Central Institutes such as AIIMS, and private sector hospitals.

The risk factors for NCDs include Tobacco usage, alcohol use, insufficient physical exercise, and a poor diet.

Under NHM and as part of Comprehensive Primary Health Care, the country has implemented a population-based strategy for preventing, controlling, and screening common noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).
